The face behind Northern Stone
Hi I am Mikayla, the Silversmith of Northern Stone.
I live in a small country town just off the coast in NSW Australia.
Early in 2025 I decided I wanted to pursue building my own business and discovered the art of Silversmithing.
I looked into it and found an incredible workshop where the raw passion began.
I have always loved jewellery but had a huge struggle when it came to finding my style of jewellery, I wanted unique but good quality pieces but also with a touch of the medieval age style (I love the Middle Ages.)
When looking for these pieces I only ever found them in online stores that were mass produced and not too reliable, so I decided if I couldn't find the jewellery I want to wear then I will make it.
When I am not in the workshop creating pieces I will likely be going for a walk along a creek or river, working my horse, Ragnar, or driving my little Suzuki Jimmy (my pride and joy!)
Histories Inspiration
Paul Revere.
Before his famous midnight ride, Paul Revere was one of colonial America’s most skilled and innovative silversmiths. Working in Boston in the 1700s, he crafted elegant teapots, spoons, and bowls known for their clean lines and fine engraving. Revere wasn’t just an artisan—he was an early entrepreneur.
On a dark April night in 1775, Paul Revere rode through the Massachusetts countryside with a mission to warn American patriots that the British army was marching to Lexington and Concord on the night of April 18, 1775. His midnight ride was not just a dash through the night; it was an act of defiance and courage that helped ignite a revolution. Revere’s bravery lay in his resolve to warn others, to act when hesitation could have meant defeat. In that single, daring ride, he became more than a messenger—he became a symbol of fearless patriotism and the spirit of American freedom.

Morning Walks
My daily walk to the river is the reason I can happily wake up before the sun. My day never feels like it has started until I have been for my walk and quick dip in the water

Ragnar
Of course I had to name him a viking name. This boy is the first horse I will be breaking in and he has taught me many lessons, my favourite one being, always bring a snack!

Betty - The Mighty Jimny
This little car is one of my favourite places to be. She earns her name from the iconic song “Black Betty.” I am still getting the hang of learning to off-road (My dad can tell you all about it)
